ACD Mentoring Lecture Program: What Is Airway Dentistry? (Zoom, 10/14)

Oct 8, 2026
The goal is to help clinicians connect the dots early - recognizing that the way a child breathes, sleeps, grows, and develops can have implications that extend well beyond the teeth.

This lecture explores the relationship between early jaw growth and development, the airway, and dental and medical concerns that may present throughout childhood and into adulthood. By connecting the dots between craniofacial development, breathing, sleep, and oral health, we will discuss how dental professionals can recognize developmental concerns early and understand when intervention may be appropriate.

The presentation will emphasize looking beyond individual dental symptoms to consider the underlying growth, functional, and airway factors that may contribute to them. It will also highlight the importance of collaboration among dental, medical, and allied healthcare professionals when evaluating and managing these patients. The goal is to help clinicians connect the dots early - recognizing that the way a child breathes, sleeps, grows, and develops can have implications that extend well beyond the teeth.
