AHRQ Issues Final CDSiC Newsletter

Sep 16, 2025

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has issued its final Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative (CDSiC) newsletter.

Issue Number 34 | September 16, 2025
After four years of groundbreaking research, the AHRQ CDSiC will conclude in September 2025.  Together, the project's many resources have meaningfully advanced the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient-centered clinical decision support (PC CDS), laying the foundation for further advancements in this innovative, patient-focused field.  In this final edition of the Insider, we highlight the AHRQ CDSiC's key accomplishments, new resources that serve as quick guides for using the AHRQ CDSiC's resources, and where to find these resources moving forward.
Table of Contents:
Since its launch in 2021, the AHRQ CDSiC has been at the forefront of advancing PC CDS.  To drive meaningful progress in this evolving field, the AHRQ CDSiC has developed 71 innovative resources and conducted 5 real-world pilot projects of PC CDS tools.  The AHRQ CDSiC's resources and projects have explored multiple cutting-edge topics – from patient engagement and shared decision making to evaluation and implementation – that support the effective development, use, and measurement of PC CDS.  To learn more about all of the AHRQ CDSiC's accomplishments, check out our full project summary.  The summary provides a useful overview of the resources developed by the project over the past four years, organized by six key topics:
  • Standards
  • Patient trust, engagement, and preferences
  • Measurement
  • PC CDS implementation
  • Use of artificial intelligence in PC CDS
  • PC CDS pilot projects
To streamline the use of the AHRQ CDSiC's many products, we have developed three brief How-To Guides that summarize the project's resources on key PC CDS topics.  The guides provide the full suite of AHRQ CDSiC resources for users seeking to address a particular aspect of PC CDS: effective PC CDS measurement, patient empowerment through PC CDS, and collaboration with patients on PC CDS.  Check out the three How-To Guides here:

The Clinical Decision Support Innovation Collaborative (CDSiC) is a community of broad, diverse stakeholders at the forefront of using technology to better support care teams, patients, and caregivers.  The CDSiC is working toward healthcare decisions that are driven by both patient-centered and patient-specific information and that align with patient needs, preferences, and values.  The CDSiC is funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) as part of a multi-component initiative to help advance patient-centered outcomes research into practice through CDS.  For any inquiries regarding the CDSiC you may contact the project team at: CDSiC@norc.org.
