Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with NYCDS & NYSDA: A Celebration of Culture, Connection, and Cuisine!
This event is a chance to honor the Hispanic dental community, enjoy flavorful food from Sophie's Cuban Cuisine, build connections, and take part in an inspiring celebration. Admission is free for members, and those who attend the lecture will also earn 1 CE credit.
This course will explore how bias, privilege, and intersectionality shape both individual and population health outcomes. Participants will engage in a conversation that delineates the differences between concepts of stereotypes/prejudice and structural inequalities/inequities. We will have an opportunity to explore our own unconscious biases and the subtle ways these biases can influence our work as practitioners. This lecture will open the door to examining the systemic and structural factors that contribute to health disparities and develop strategies to promote equity in healthcare settings.
