Part 1 Lecture Description:
New Advances in Direct and Indirect Restorative Dentistry…Overcoming Common Pain Points, Pitfalls, and Problems in Private Practice
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the steps involved in creating the perfect Class II composite restoration
- Master appropriate bonding and curing protocols
- Learn predictable techniques designed to capture flawless impressions the first time they are attempted
- Review appropriate layering techniques to enhance esthetics of anterior bonding cases
- Gain knowledge of modern ceramic materials and understand limitations and strengths of each type of material
- Develop a better understanding of the indications and contraindications of each material
- Improve their understanding of the plethora of modern cements and which clinical situations are indicated for their use
- Navigate the technological advances in CAD/CAM Dentistry and figure out which systems may be most appropriate for their practices
- Learn predictable techniques designed to capture flawless impressions the first time they are attempted family practices.
Part 2 Lecture Description:
Treatment Planning, Designing and Delivering Complex Restorative and Multidisciplinary Cases
Learning Objectives:
- Diagnose a variety of complex clinical situations
- Design a case with the final product in mind
- Select appropriate materials based on functional needs and esthetics
- Manage and quarterback all members of the treating team, including specialists
- Work effectively with laboratory support team to achieve lasting, esthetic results
- Optimize case acceptance through an increased understanding of various patient types
Speaker Information: Dr. Marc Geissberger
Dr. Marc Geissberger taught at University of the Pacific for 30 years and ran Pacific’s prestigious complex and esthetic rehabilitation program. He is also a researcher and a published author in the areas of dental materials, contemporary fixed prosthodontics, and esthetic dentistry. He serves as a consultant for many dental materials companies and helps guide product development.
During his 30 years in academia, he has maintained a private practice geared toward restorative dentistry with his brother and fellow Pacific alum Dr. Jeffrey Geissberger. He believes his continual involvement in providing patient care as well as a role in academia has given him a unique balance that allows him to blend the best of both worlds. Dr. Geissberger earned a master’s degree in educational psychology in 1994 and has been a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) with the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 2008. He completed his Fitness Nutrition Specialty (FNS) training in 2011.
