USDOL Launches PAID Program

Jul 24, 2025

Per the notice below, the United States Department of Labor (USDOL) has launched the Payroll Audit Independent Determination (PAID) program.  The PAID program helps employers with wage payment compliance problems.

The Payroll Audit Independent Determination (PAID) program is back!

The Wage and Hour Division understands that running a business is tough.  Balancing payroll, scheduling, and compliance can be overwhelming.  If past mistakes led to unpaid wages, now’s a chance for employers to make it right.  In April 2018, the Division launched the Payroll Audit Independent Determination (PAID) program.  Due to the program’s success, PAID is returning and expanding to include the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The objectives of the PAID program include the following:

  • Resolve wage violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and identified violations under the FMLA expeditiously and without litigation,
  • Improve employer compliance, and
  • Ensure that more employees receive the back wages and FMLA remedies they are due - faster.
For more information explaining how employers can participate in the PAID program, visit the Wage and Hour Division’s PAID program page.
