Lecture Title:

Bias, Privilege, Intersectionality, and Health

Lecture Description:

This course will explore how bias, privilege, and intersectionality shape both individual and population health outcomes. Participants will engage in a conversation that delineates the differences between concepts of stereotypes/prejudice and structural inequalities/inequities.  We will have an opportunity to explore our own unconscious biases and the subtle ways these biases can influence our work as practitioners. These discussions are designed to begin the process of self-reflection and open the door to examining the systemic and structural factors that contribute to health disparities and develop strategies to promote equity in healthcare settings.
