Preventive Services Guidelines Receive Updates
HRSA supports the development of and regular updates to guidelines for preventive care and screenings to improve care for women and children. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), most group health plans and individual health insurance issuers must provide coverage without cost sharing for the preventive health services within these HRSA-supported guidelines.
In December 2022, HRSA accepted updates to both the Women’s Preventive Services Guidelines and the Bright Futures Program. The Women’s Preventive Services Guidelines updates concern screening for diabetes. Details can be found in its Federal Register Notice. The Bright Futures Periodicity Schedule update relates to HIV screening for adolescents and young adults. Find details for that change in the Bright Futures Federal Register Notice.
