Governor Hochul Signs NYSDA Dental Residency Bill Into Law

On November 21, 2022, Governor Hochul signed into law, as Chapter 613 of the Laws of 2022, the NYSDA bill to remove the “clinically-based” language from the dental experience/residency requirement for dental licensure – thereby allowing recognized dental specialty residencies such as oral medicine, orofacial pain, and dental public health to qualify for licensure purposes.  The law takes effect immediately.  A copy of the bill signed into law – A.9967 (Glick) / S.8808 (Stavisky) – can be read here: A.9967 (Glick) on Dental Residency Qualifications.  You can read the Sponsor Memorandum explaining the bill here: A.9967 Sponsor Memorandum.
