Per the notice below, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is observing United States Antibiotic Awareness Week and highlighting its Four Moments of Antibiotic Decision Making resource.

AHRQ supports U.S. Antibiotic Awareness Week, an annual observance to raise awareness of the threat of antibiotic resistance and the importance of appropriate antibiotic use. Antimicrobial resistance is one of the most urgent threats to the public’s health. More than 2.8 million antibiotic-resistant infections occur in the United States each year; 35,000 people die as a result. AHRQ’s Four Moments of Antibiotic Decision Making offers a framework that allows clinicians to improve antibiotic prescribing.
