GAO Issues Reports on Veterans Community Care Program and on Using Machine Learning to Improve Diagnosis

The United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) has issued two reports: 1) on the United States Department of Veterans Affairs [VA] oversight of the Veterans Community Care Program; and 2) on using machine learning to improve diagnosis.  GAO found that the VA had not properly monitored the Veterans Community Care Program and had not ensured that there were adequate network providers, including dentists.  GAO also found that machine learning, while still in the early stages of implementation, has the potential to provide more accuracy in diagnostic results, as well as saving time, money, and lives.  To read the GAO report on the Veterans Community Care Program, use the first link below.  To read highlights of the GAO report on the Veterans Community Care Program, use the second link below.  To read the GAO report on using machine learning to improve diagnosis, use the last link below.
