CDC Issues Report on COVID-19 Hospitalizations of Children Aged 5-11 Years

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued, as part of its latest Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR), a report on hospitalizations for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) among children aged 5-11 years.  CDC notes that hospitalization rates for COVID-19 among children aged 5–11 were approximately twice as high among unvaccinated as among vaccinated children, that non-Hispanic Black children represented the largest group of unvaccinated children, that 30% of hospitalized children had no underlying medical conditions, that 19% were admitted to an intensive care unit, and that children with diabetes and obesity were more likely to experience severe COVID-19.  To read the CDC MMWR report on hospitalizations for COVID-19 among children aged 5-11 years, use the link below.
