CMS Issues FAQs and Webinar Invitation on No Surprises Act

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for health care providers about the federal No Surprises Act rules.  The information for providers and facilities regarding No Surprises Act rules, independent dispute resolution, and exceptions to the new rules and requirements can be found at: Frequently asked questions for providers about the No Surprises rules. Webinar Invitation – An Overview of the Independent Dispute Resolution Process for Disputing Parties

Please join us on Friday, April 8, 2022, from 1:00-1:30 p.m. ET, for a training session on the Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) process for disputing parties (health care providers, emergency facilities, providers of air ambulance services, group health plans, health insurance issuers, and Federal Employees Health Benefits [FEHB] Carriers).  On February 28, 2022, the United States Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and the Treasury (the “Departments”) announced steps the Departments are taking to conform to the court’s order in the case of Texas Medical Ass’n, et al. v. United States Department of Health and Human Services, et al., Case No. 6:21-cv-425 (E.D. Tex.), which invalidated portions of an interim final rule, Requirements Related to Surprise Billing; Part II, 86 Fed. Reg. 55,980 (Oct. 7, 2021) (the “Rule”) governing aspects of the federal independent dispute resolution (IDR) process under the No Surprises Act.  This training will provide an overview of the IDR process for disputing parties and highlight changes in the guidance resulting from the court’s order.
