The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has taken final action against the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners by entering a settlement order whereby Alabama will cease to enforce its restrictions on teledentistry. FTC notes that by the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners requiring on-site supervision by licensed dentists of alignment scans of prospective patients’ mouths seeking to address misaligned teeth or gaps between teeth, it limited consumer choice and excluded new providers in the state of Alabama.
