The United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) has issued two reports: 1) on the use of novel coronavirus [COVID-19] digital vaccine credentials; and 2) on the United States Department of Defense [DOD] strategy for protecting military service members from COVID-19. GAO found that digital COVID-19 vaccine credentials are helpful, but that challenges that may limit the use of these credentials include concerns about the security and privacy of users' health data. GAO also found that DOD had effectively leveraged its infectious disease research and development infrastructure and investments to advance medical countermeasures that prevent, treat, and detect COVID-19.
