The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) has issued an audit report on improper fee-for-service (FFS) payments by the New York State Medicaid program when Medicaid Managed Care should have covered the service. OSC found that over $36 million in improper Medicaid FFS payments had been made when Medicaid Managed Care should have covered the service. OSC also found that while many of the payments involved newborns that were being addressed, some also involved other patient groups that were not being adequately addressed.
