FDA Issues Guidance to Health Care Providers on Giving Instructions to Patients for Self-Collecting Nasal Samples for COVID-19 Testing

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued guidance to health care providers on giving clear, step-by-step instructions to patients who, in a health care setting, are self-collecting anterior nares (nasal) samples for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) testing.  FDA notes that without proper instructions, patients may not collect an adequate sample for testing, which may decrease the sensitivity of the test.  To read the FDA guidance to health care providers on giving clear, step-by-step instructions to patients who, in a health care setting, are self-collecting nasal samples for COVID-19 testing, use the link below.
