FDA Proposes Rule to Lower Fluoride Level in Bottled Water

The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a proposed rule on the addition of fluoride to bottled water.  The FDA is proposing to lower the allowable level of fluoride in bottled water to which fluoride is added by the manufacturer to 0.7 mg/L to be consistent with the 2015 recommendation by the United States Public Health Service for community water systems that add fluoride for the prevention of dental caries.  To read the FDA announcement and summary of its proposed rule to lower the fluoride level in bottled water, and to access the complete FDA proposed rule, use the link below.
