NYSDOH Issues Two Dental Medicaid Hearing Decisions Against Dentists

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has issued two dental Medicaid hearing decisions, in each case upholding the sanctions and recovery amounts sought by the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) from the dentists.  The case against Dr. Vezire Sarak is interesting because of the extensive discussion and disagreement among the expert witnesses on how dental Medicaid requirements can differ from ordinary dental standards of care.  The case against Dr. Eliot Silber is interesting in showing the serious harm that can result from not keeping adequate patient records when having to deal with OMIG.  To read the NYSDOH Medicaid hearing decision against Dr. Vezire Sarak, use the first link below.  To read the NYSDOH Medicaid hearing decision against Dr. Eliot Silber, use the second link below.
