OSC Issues Audit on Improper NYSDOH Premium Payments to Medicaid Managed Care Organizations

The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) has issued an audit report on improper premium payments by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) to Medicaid managed care organizations.  OSC found that NYSDOH had made over $18.9 million in premium overpayments to Medicaid managed care organizations due to improper premium rate calculation methodologies for allowable administrative costs.  OSC also found that NYSDOH had not effectively implemented many of OSC's previous recommendations on this issue, including failing to recover the premium overpayments from the managed care organizations.  To read the OSC complete audit report on improper NYSDOH premium payments to Medicaid managed care organizations, use the link below.
