Aetna again is issuing letters to dentists advising that they must accept payment for patient claims via electronic funds transfer (EFT) or virtual credit card (VCC). Aetna states that, if a dentist does not select one of the two options for payment, it will issue future payments through a VCC. 

Please be aware that enrollment in EFT is NOT required. Unless you have signed a participating provider contract with Aetna agreeing to do so, Aetna cannot compel you to do so. 

If you do not want to accept payment of patients’ benefits electronically, you can opt-out of the Aetna EFT and VCC payment methods by faxing your request to Aetna at 1-859-455-8650. Include office contact information, including the Tax ID/EIN number.
