Covid-19 vaccine update

New Info Including NYC Vaccination Sites for Dentists ๐Ÿ’‰

Here is the latest on the COVID-19 vaccination for dentists and staff including vaccination sites and availability.

Dear Member,

Last week you should have received the email below from NYSDA with information on how to register to receive the vaccine. We have heard from members that although the link was working last week, currently there are some issues with registering through this portal so the link below will bring you directly to the New York State Department of Health registration site:

This morning, New York City launched a few vaccination sites. The link below will take you directly to the New York City Department of Health. Scroll down the page to register.

Please make sure that the vaccination sites are for essential workers in 1a, as defined by the NYSDOH, which includes dentists and dental staff.

Once you register, you should receive a confirmation email; some members have said that they also received a confirmation phone call but it appears that vaccination sites have different procedures. It is recommended that you bring your dental license and your medical insurance card to the vaccination site. Please have your dental staff bring to the vaccination site a letter, on letterhead and signed by the dentist, stating that the staff member is employed by the practice.

Appointments are limited but it appears that new sites are being added as more vaccine becomes available.

Important Information on Receiving the Vaccine

Members are advised to monitor their emails for a notification from the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) or your local county health department which will include information on how to register to receive the vaccine in your area.

We encourage you to visit to see if you are eligible to register to receive the vaccine today. You will be prompted to enter your zip code, click Point of Dispensing (POD), and if available, select a site for your appointment. Some zip codes will not have appointment availability as supply is very limited.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Each distribution site has its own criteria for currently giving the vaccine so read it carefully.

  • Some say "essential healthcare worker in 1a as defined by the NYSDOH," and this would include dentists and dental team.
  • Others spell out: "Who May Attend: Emergency Medical Services staff, Medical Examiners, Coroners, Funeral Home staff, staff from Voluntary Operated Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) Facilities, staff and residents from Voluntary Operated Office of Mental Health (OMH) Facilities, and staff and residents from Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) Facilities." At those locations, dentists would not yet be included.

Keep checking our website and the DOH CMS site as this changes frequently as supply becomes available.

We are here to provide you the most accurate and up-to-date information as it becomes available. Continue to check frequently.
