Mandatory Opioid Prescriber Training - 3 Year Requirement Coming Due

Practitioners licensed in New York who have a DEA registration number to prescribe controlled substances must complete at least 3 hours of course work or training in pain management, palliative care, and addiction. Take this online course sponsored by the NYS Department of Health to complete this requirement!

Mandatory Opioid Prescriber Training

Pursuant to public health law, prescribers must complete the course work within one year of DEA registration and once within each three-year period thereafter.

Many of you first took the required course work or training when you were mandated to comply by July 1, 2017. If that is the case for you, then the three-year time-frame is fast approaching and you will need to complete an approved course by July 1, 2020. You must notify the Department of Health that you have completed the educational requirements by submitting an attestation online.
