This is a free event for NYCDS Young Professionals only. Young Professionals are those members of our Society who have been in practice for 10 years or less.
In this presentation, common cancers and their therapies that can impact the delivery of dental care will be reviewed, as well as the complications of cancer therapy and how they impact oral health.
Heidi J. Hansen, DMD, is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine. She is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine, an Assistant Attending Dentist at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine and the Program Director for the General Practice residency in Dentistry. Dr. Hansen’s clinical expertise and research interests include the management of oral mucosal diseases, the oral adverse effects of cancer treatment, and the dental management of the oncology patient, specifically the management of patients undergoing head and neck radiation therapy, chemotherapy and stem cell transplantation.
