Insights and Candor on Ethical Issues: A Focus on Dental Insurance & Developing Alternative Treatment Plans

  • Address: 622 Third Avenue, 9th floor, New York, NY, United States
  • Phone: 212-573-8500

6:30 PM reception
7:00 PM to 8:00 PM discussion
CE hours: 1

This is a free event for NYCDS Young Professionals, Residents, SPEA members, and students.

This hour-long discussion will explore two areas that can lead to ethical issues: dental insurance and alternative treatment plans.
  • How does the dentist ethically handle treatment no longer covered by insurance?
  • What are the ethics of developing a more affordable treatment plan when the prognosis of that plan may not be as favorable?
  • How many options should a patient be given?

RESULTS: Attendees will benefit from a discussion of issues by panelists who will share their professional encounters with ethical quandaries and how they handled these challenging situations.

Practicing dentists from the NYCDS Executive Board, Member Benefits Committee, Ethics Committee and Young Professionals Committee will serve as panelists. Students from the Columbia SPEA chapter will develop questions for the panelists.

This event is organized through the NYCDS Dental Ethics Committee and the Columbia Student Professionalism and Ethics Association (SPEA).
