This course specifical ly includes OSHA update for PPE COVID-19 recommendations. It is not intend ed to be a COVID-19 “return to work” course. This requirement is separate from the NYS Mandatory Infection Control Re-Licensure requirement of every four years for dentists and hygienists.

Control Training on initial assignment\, when new tasks or procedures aff
ect their occupational exposure\, and at minimum annually.
OSHA requires at least an annual update for employees and staff for office
s. The courses are updated to reflect most recent infection control and OS
HA guidelines\, etc. If the practice owner enrolls their staff\, the offic
e receives a training completion document\, so they don’t have to do the t

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is responsible for en suring safe working conditions for all employees.
In 2016\, OSHA mad e a major update to the MSDS/SDS (material safety data sheets/safety data sheets) labeling requirements and employee training that required mandator y office compliance after June 1\, 2016\, including additional documentati on requirements. OSHA constantly develops new solutions and standards to p rotect employees from injury and illness. It is the responsibility of empl oyers to stay up-to-date on any OSHA changes to remain legally compliant\, or face fines and costly claims that could lead to lawsuits. Dentists and their employees should update themselves at least annually and place appr opriate documentation into their office manuals.
The goal of this co urse is to inform attendees of the latest OSHA/CDC/ADA changes. The mandat ory updates will be discussed in detail with handouts that will help guide the practitioner\, hygienist and staff comply with the mandate that was i nstituted in 2016\, and any other changes that have occurred after that da te.
Practitioners are encouraged to bring their staff members to fac ilitate compliance: otherwise\, practitioners must fabricate their own doc ument acknowledging dissemination of this update to their staff and place such documentation into the office manual.
If an employer brings sta ff\, a separate employer/employee training attestation document (that the employer and staff will sign at the end of the course) will be given to th e employer to place into their office manual. Employers and their employee s must be present together to sign the attestation document.

In order to provide an effective learning experience\, Dr. My
chajliw will be utilizing a slide presentation\, distributing educational
materials\, will be providing a live question and answer session and will
review incidences of infection control non-compliance in both private and
institutional settings.
Dr. Peter A. Mychajliw received his DDS degree from New York University College of Dentistry with multiple clinical honors. He subsequently completed a two year hospital based General Practice (Chief) Residency at the LIJ Medical Center and subsequently served as its Progra m Director. Dr. Mychajliw currently serves as the Associate Director of th e NYU Dentistry Lutheran AEGD Program.
Dr. Mychajliw has developed e xtensive knowledge in comprehensive dental care delivery\, including denta l implants\, to challenging patient profiles such as medically/physically/ psychologically compromised patient populations. His expertise also includ es the dental management of cardiac\, radiation-oncology\, HIV\, developme ntally disabled patients\, among others.
Dr. Mychajliw has served on several medical center committees including Infection Control and Quality Management. He has also served as Continuing Education Administrator (ADA CERP) and Infection Control Officer in an institutional setting\, and cur rently serves as AGD PACE CE Administrator for the New York Academy of Ora l Rehabilitation. He currently serves on the Board of Director for the Nas sau County Dental Society\, and as a member of the Dental Practice/Continu ing Education Committees for the Society.
Dr. Mychajliw has been pra
cticing and teaching the interdisciplinary team approach method (restorati
ve dentist\, surgeon\, lab technician\, and physician) of patient care\, i
ncluding dental implant reconstruction\, since 1990 utilizing a variety of
leading implant systems. He also has lectured broadly for over twenty yea
rs in the areas of dental implants\, hospital dentistry\, dental materials
and infection control/OSGA requirements for dentistry. Peter Mychajliw is
a NYS Department of Health Licensed Infection Control Trainer.
