Given there is no mandatory continuing e ducation requirement for oral and maxillofacial pathology in dentistry\, i t is imperative to self-select such courses. This lecture aims to provide the dental practitioner\, regardless of specialty or number of years in pr actice\, with an overview of the essential features of the common mucosal lesions. The presentation focuses on lesions which are from the main cate gories of inflammatory\, infectious\, immune mediated\, neoplastic\, and o ral manifestations of systemic disease.
