This course will provide the six hours of continuing education required by New York State for renewal every three years of the Enteral Sedation Certificate. The course covers advanced concepts and techniques for oral sedation and anesthesia, as well as recognition and management of emergency situations.
This presentation will help the attendee understand:
• office procedures for safe, efficient sedation;
• case selection and patient management for dental phobia
• management of anesthetic emergencies;
• New York State guidelines and regulations for dentists practicing under the Enteral
Sedation Certificate;
• standard of care for sedation, including required and recommended monitoring; and
• nitrous oxide and oral sedatives; use and pharmacology
To renew your Dental Enteral Sedation certificate, you must have a valid course completion card for Basic Life Support, and proof of completion of six hours of education in sedation techniques, including but not limited to, coursework in medications and recognition and management of complications and emergencies, completed during your previous registration period.
RESULTS: You will learn to provide safe and efficient sedation for dental procedures, while completing six hours of education in sedation techniques.
Louis Siegelman, D.D.S. Dr. Siegelman is Director of Dental Anesthesiology Section, Lutheran Medical Center Department of Dentistry. He lectures nationally, and maintains a private practice in New York City devoted to the care of patients with dental phobia.
